A2 STEEL CHARACTERISTICS
A2 steel is a type of high toughness and wear-resistant tool steel, belonging to the wind hard section steel. The mass fraction of carbon in this steel is about 1%, and after heat treatment, its hardness can reach 57-62HRC. The mass fraction of chromium is about 5%. A2 steel has good toughness and blade sharpness retention, and its wear resistance is between O1 steel and D2 steel. After polishing, the surface of the steel has a dull luster, excellent corrosion resistance, strong ductility, and good wear resistance of the mold blade.
After appropriate heat treatment, A2 steel can achieve higher hardness, which is very important for manufacturing tools that need to withstand significant wear and tear. Good toughness: Although A2 steel has high hardness, it still has good toughness, which allows it to withstand large impact loads without breaking due to impact. A2 steel has excellent wear resistance, which makes it very useful in manufacturing tools that need to withstand significant wear. After a period of use, the sharpness of the A2 steel blade can be effectively maintained, which is very important for tools that require frequent use. Corrosion resistance: A2 steel has good corrosion resistance, which allows it to maintain good performance in harsh working environments. A2 steel has excellent ductility, which allows it to be easily forged into various shapes and sizes of tools. A2 steel has good surface treatment performance and can be treated in various ways to improve its performance or change its appearance.
In order to achieve optimal performance, A2 steel needs to undergo appropriate heat treatment. Generally speaking, the heat treatment process of A2 steel includes two steps: quenching and tempering. Firstly, A2 steel is heated to a certain temperature (usually 800-850 ℃), and then rapidly cooled (usually through oil or water), a process known as quenching. Then, the quenched A2 steel is reheated to a lower temperature (usually 500-600 ℃) and held for a period of time, which is called tempering. Through this heat treatment process, A2 steel can achieve the required hardness and toughness.
